The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals has overturned the release of Angola 3 inmate Albert Woodfox and rules that plans to try him for a third time for the 1972 murder of a prison guard can continue. The appellant court says US District Judge James Brady abused his discretion in his June order to immediately release Woodfox and barring a third trial. Both of Woodfox’s convictions in the murder of Brent Miller have been overturned.

Democrat John Bel Edwards and Republican David Vitter will participate in a gubernatorial debate tonight that will air on LPB stations around the state beginning at 7PM. U-L Lafayette Political Science Professor Pearson Cross says Edwards still needs to introduce himself to voters.
