The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals has overturned the release of Angola 3 inmate Albert Woodfox and rules that plans to try him for a third time for the 1972 murder of a prison guard can continue. The appellant court says US District Judge James Brady abused his discretion in his June order to immediately release Woodfox and barring a third trial. Both of Woodfox’s convictions in the murder of Brent Miller have been overturned.
