The Saints are 4-5 on the season and hit the road to play the struggling Washington Redskins Sunday afternoon.

Elsewhere in the NFC South, the Carolina Panthers remain one of only three undefeated teams in the NFL. The Panthers improved to 8-0 after defeating Green Bay 37-29. The Falcons were edged by San Francisco 17-16.

The Pelicans are 0-6 after dropping a couple of games over the weekend. The Pels hope to gain that elusive first win of the season as the Dallas Mavericks come to New Orleans Tuesday night.

The LSU Tigers are still ranked in the top 10, but their chances of winning the SEC or being involved in the college football playoffs took a serious hit after losing to Alabama 30-16. The Bayou Bengals couldn’t stop Bama running back Derrick Henry, who rushed for 210 yards and three touchdowns, while LSU’s Leonard Fournette rushed for 31 yards. In other college football action, Troy crushed ULM 51-14, UL-Lafayette edged Georgia State 23-21, Louisiana Tech routed North Texas 56-13, Nicholls State upset Lamar 30-28, McNeese State remains undefeated after defeating Sam Houston State 27-10, Northwestern State beat Abilene Christian 39-22, and Southeastern Louisiana lost to Incarnate Word 16-2.
