If a new poll is any indication, Senator Bill Cassidy’s re-election could be in jeopardy. The poll by JMC Analytics and Polling commissioned by the John Fleming campaign shows Fleming with a 36-to-29 lead over the incumbent that stretches to 42-to-29 when only registered Republicans are factored in. Founder John Couvillon says based on the current polling numbers, Cassidy would almost certainly be extended to a runoff, and that would almost certainly spell doom for him.

The Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man who they say kidnapped a nine-year-old boy who was later found safe. Deputy Amanda Lyon says 40-year-old Rickey Knotts was riding ATVs with the boy yesterday, but he held the boy captive instead of letting him go home. Lyon says Knotts has several prior arrests.

A helicopter pilot is killed in a crash in Thibodaux. Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Captain Brennan Matherne says it happened at around 6:30 this morning.
Cut 3 (04) “…later pronounced dead.”
The pilot has been identified as Stanley Hebert of Abbeville. Investigators say Hebert hit some utility wires and crashed into a sugar cane field. There were no buildings within at least a one-mile radius; thus, there was no additional damage, and no one on the ground was hurt.
Former Union Parish football star Trey Holly has enrolled at Southern University as a walk-on; as he’s not allowed to play at LSU due to the felony charges he’s facing stemming from a shooting. Jaguars head coach Terrence Graves says Holly is ready to go.
Holly is Louisiana’s all-time leading high school rusher and committed to the Tigers in 2022, but he has not seen the field since three games into his freshman season.
