The popular Giant Omelette Celebration takes place in Vermilion Parish this weekend. One of the organizers, Liz Broussard, says the event began 31 years ago in Abbeville. She says the omelet will include 5,031 eggs and other delicious ingredients…:

Early voting for the runoff election kicks off statewide Saturday. The marquee races on the ballot are for Governor, Lt. Governor, and Attorney General. But Secretary of State Tom Schedler says there are other races on the ballot that still need to be decided…

The Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness is urging Louisiana residents to be prepared for possible severe weather this weekend. The National Weather Service indicates much of the state is under a marginal risk of severe weather as a cold front enters the region. Forecasters are concerned about flooding as this will be at least the third episode of massive rain fall over the last month.
