The State Department of Health and Hospitals says over 11-hundred businesses, schools and colleges have received a special designation to show they support healthy living. They are called “Well Spots” and DHH Assistant Secretary JT Lane says that means they’ve a conscious effort to help people lead healthier lifestyles…:

State Police say a Lafayette man died in a two vehicle fatality crash on I-10 in Iberville Parish after slamming into an 18-wheeler that was stalled in a crash. They say 50-year-old Alton Ortega died from his injuries. Invesitgators remind motorists that distracted driving is one of the leading causes of crashes in our state.

Early voting for the November 21st runoff begins tomorrow and runs through November 14th. Polls will be open from 8:30am to 6pm, but closed on Sunday and next Wednesday for Veterans Day.
