Matthew Mire who in 2021, murdered Louisiana State Trooper Adam Gaubert and Ascension Parish resident Pamela Adair has made a plea deal that spares his life. The agreement will sentence him to 2 life sentences plus 348 and a half years in prison for his multi-parish crime spree that also left three other people injured. The deal means Mire will avoid a trial. Sentencing was handed down in Ascension Parish and will also need to be formalized in part in Livingston Parish for the crimes in that parish.
A two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 17 in Richland Parish Tuesday night left two dead and one injured. State Trooper Ryan Davis says the crash claimed the lives of 28-year-old driver Billie Myers and 59-year-old James Washington. Driver of the GMC Terrain, 18-year-old, Alexis Cox is stable with serious injuries.
Neither Myers nor Washington was wearing a seat belt. Davis says vehicles carry massive amounts of energy.
