The FEMA Review Council, which is looking to make major reforms to the federal disaster response agency, held its second meeting in New Orleans. Last month, President Trump said he wanted to phase out FEMA after the current hurricane season. Governor Jeff Landry, who attended yesterday’s meeting, says the President’s goal is to have a competent and functional agency whether that’s FEMA or something else.
Colorado State updated its long term hurricane forecast and they are now calling for 16 named storms and eight hurricanes, one less in each category than their previous forecast. Lead researcher Phil Klotzbach says we are still looking at an active hurricane season…

After 81 years since he was killed in World War Two, Private First Class Harry LeBert was finally laid to rest in Louisiana as he was interred at southwest Louisiana veteran’s cemetery. State Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Charlton Meginley says it took advances in forensic science to identify Lebert who’s remains spent decades in the Philippines. Meginley says while the LeBert family finally got closure countless others are waiting.
