State Police says City Marshals from the Ward 2 office in Marksville were involved in a shooting following a pursuit — and a child is dead and his alleged father critically injured. Trooper Scott Moreau says the initial investigation revealed that officers fired on the vehicle after the chase:
CUT 3 (07) “pronounced dead”
Moreau says the investigation is in its early stages and authorities are working to determine the series of events that led to this tragic shooting.

State Police is also investigating a multi-vehicle fatal hit and run crash on the Pearl River Bridge near the Mississippi State line on I-10 which involved an 18-wheeler breaking through the guard rail and into the water. Rescue workers have recovered the body from the river. Investigators say another 18-wheeler was involved, but it didn’t go into the water, and a third vehicle was involved, but cops don’t know where that one is. This is a developing story.

LSU says the jersey worn by running back Leonard Fournette in this year’s displaced South Carolina game Tiger Stadium will be auctioned off as he requested, starting Saturday. Fournette’s autographed jersey will be packaged with a Steve Spurrier autographed South Carolina helmet and a LSU helmet signed by Les Miles.
