State Police says City Marshals from the Ward 2 office in Marksville were involved in a shooting following a pursuit last night, and a 6-year-old child was killed in the incident and the driver is in critical condition. They say an initial investigation revealed an SUV fled from cops, and at the end of the chase, the City Marshals fired at the vehicle with the child and his alleged father inside. The investigation is ongoing.

The Baton Rouge Advocate published a poll by Market Research Insight which found that Democrat John Bel Edwards is in a double digit lead over Republican David Vitter in the gubernatorial runoff. In the survey, Edwards got 54 percent and Vitter 38 percent if African-American turnout is 25-percent. The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s office says a pregnant woman is under arrest and charged with third offense DWI. They say 27-year-old Angelle Andras of Choctaw, allegedly swerved into the lane of another vehicle and caused that car to crash into a mailbox. She faces many charges including DWI number 3.
