The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office says former NFL player Marvin White, a Port Barre native, has been arrested again and booked with theft and resisting an officer. Capt. Clay Higgins says the 31-year-old walked into a gas station and allegedly took some candy then didn’t pay for it before telling the cashier, “Call the cops, I’m Marvin White. I’m the best.”

Tulane has been awarded a $6.7 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to study the long term impact of Hurricane Katrina. Mark VanLandingham, a professor of global community health and behavioral sciences at Tulane, says they are excited about receiving this funding…:

The longtime voice of the LSU Tigers will not be on the call for Saturday’s football game in Alabama. Jim Hawthorne is recovering from a successful medical procedure. Patrick Wright, who is the play-by-play man for LSU women’s basketball and softball, will sit in for Hawthorne.
