There’s a strong belief the tax reform special session will come to an end with lawmakers approving a plan that will lower individual income taxes, but increase the state sales tax from 4.45 percent to five percent for at least five years. Legislators would also repeal the corporate franchise tax.

Governor Jeff Landry says a three-billion dollar coastal restoration project, , would break parts of Louisiana’s culture. Landry appeared before the Senate Transportation Committee expressing concern the Mid-Barataria Sediment Diversion would hurt commercial shrimping and oyster growing in southeast Louisiana. But Amanda Moore, senior director of the gulf program for the National Wildlife Federation, disagrees with Landry’s assertion…
