Jeff Landry held a press conference today where the first-year governor laid plans for tax reform, lowering the state’s income tax and eliminating several tax breaks. Political analyst Bernie Pinsonat says it’s a complex plan, but the governor is making the case it will result in more money in people’s pockets and a better economy…
Landry says the state can’t wait on this plan so he’s calling a special session in November and changes to the state’s constitution to execute the plan would be voted on in March.
Southeastern Louisiana University celebrates a major milestone today – its 100th year. University President William Wainwright says the Hammond school has come a long way in one century.

People are mourning the death of 69-year-old, Baton Rouge therapist, Doctor William Nicholas Abraham, and the search continues for the person responsible for his death. Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Gerald Sticker says Abrham’s body was found wrapped up in tarp on Sunday morning along Highway 51 between Fluker and the Village of Tangipahoa. Sticker says Abraham died from blunt force trauma…

America has its first centenarian president, as Jimmy Carter turns 100 years old today. Carter was elected as the 39th president in 1976 and served a single term in office from 1977 to 1981. Louisiana Public Service Commissioner Foster Campbell served in the Louisiana State Senate during Carter’s presidency.
