McNeese quarterback Clifton McDowell has been named the Southland Offensive Player of the Week. McDowell led the Pokes on two fourth quarter drives to rally McNeese back from ten-point deficit to beat Stephen F Austin 28 to 24. McDowell rushed for two touchdowns and threw for two touchdowns.

 

Grambling also had a second half comeback on Saturday to beat Texas A-and-M Commerce to 35 to 28. Former LSU Tiger Tre Bradford rushed for two touchdowns, including the game winner in O-T. Grambling is 2-and-1 on the year.

 

Louisiana Tech led 17-6 at halftime over North Carolina State but the Wolfpack outscored the Bulldogs 24 to 3 to beat Tech 30 to 20. Tru Edwards had a career-high 148 receiving yards. The Bulldogs are home this Saturday against Tulsa.

 

Nicholls finally gets to play its first home game this Saturday as the Colonels host Mississippi Valley State. Nicholls lost to 11th ranked Sacramento State 34 to 7 on Saturday to start the season 0-and-3.
