A Thibodaux woman is in jail after she lied to Lafourche Parish Sheriff deputies about a murder inside her home and then driving off in a deputy’s patrol car. Thirty-four-year-old Loralyn Boudreaux stole the police car when deputies went inside her house to investigate a homicide that never occurred. Boudreaux was arrested a short time later at nearby residence.

Ohio Republican Congressman John Boehner has announced he will resign as Speaker of the House. Minden Representative John Fleming says Boehner made the right decision because his leadership wasn’t effective. He says they’ll be looking for specific traits in the next speaker.

Boehner’s resignation could lead to Metairie Congressman Steve Scalise becoming the next House majority leader.

A big day of college football is on tap for Louisiana sports fans. LSU will visit Syracuse in a game the Tigers should win rather easily. Louisiana Tech has lost two in a row, but they are back home this afternoon to host Conference USA foe Florida International. UL Lafayette faces Akron tonight at Cajun Field.
