Authorities are still investigating a fatal boat collision on the Tickfaw River that occurred on Sunday leaving 31-year-old Thuy (Twee) Gustin of Springfield and 36-year-old Chase Sharkey of Greensburg dead and six injured. Lafourche Parish government officials estimate 34-thousand gallons of oil spilled into Bayou Lafourche. The spill is the result of a leaking fuel tank at the Crescent Midstream pumping station in Raceland. A large clean-up effort is underway. Some wildlife has been affected and that includes 17 aquatic salamanders and three turtles that have died.
