LSU football is picked to finish fifth in the Southeastern Conference according to a poll of media members who attended SEC Media Days. Georgia is the preseason favorite to win the 16-team league followed by Texas, Alabama, Ole Miss and then LSU. Two media members picked the Tigers to win the SEC. Two media members also picked Vanderbilt to win the league, which we know is not going to happen.
It’s not expected to be a good year for Louisiana Tech based on a Conference USA preseason poll released today. The Bulldogs are picked to finish seventh in the ten team league. Liberty is the preseason favorite to win the conference, followed by Western Kentucky, Jacksonville State and Middle Tennessee. Conference USA media day is Tuesday.
The Pelicans will conclude play in the Summer League on Saturday night in Las Vegas when they play Denver. New Orleans is 0-4 in summer league action.

Raymond is back for a second stint at LSU. His first 10-year run with the Tigers saw him coach seven first team All-Americans and 14 players were drafted out of LSU’s secondary.
Saints offensive tackle Ryan Ramczyk will miss the season. He was placed on the physically unable to perform list and since he’s a vested veteran and the move was made before the final roster cut-down date, it means Ramczyk can not play this year. Ramczyk’s career could also be over because of a knee injury. The Saints are set to report to the training camp on Tuesday.
