Three fatal accidental shootings of children in Louisiana this week, serve as a reminder to practice gun safety.

A car crash has claimed the life of 90-year-old Jean Ducote of Lafayette. State Police say Ducote was a rear seat passenger in a vehicle that was rear-ended on Highway 74 in Ascension Parish. The crash happened Wednesday afternoon and Ducote died from her injuries yesterday. State Police continues to investigate the fatal wreck.

A former art teacher at Golden Meadow Middle School in Lafourche Parish has been sentenced to 40-years in prison for sexually abusing one of his former students in 2009. Prosecutor Jason Chatagnier says during the trial they presented evidence on how Ralph Cheramie Junior would groom his victims…

Judge Christopher Boudreaux sentenced Cheramie for 40 years for molestation of a juvenile and 40 years for sexual battery of a child.

LSU researcher Chen Chen has received federal funding to continue testing her discovery that two separate but specific proteins can be used to treat most malignant cancers…
