The University of Louisiana System is expected to name Jimmy Genovese as the next president of Northwestern State. A formal vote will occur tomorrow. Genovese currently serves as a judge on the Louisiana Supreme Court. The 74-year-old is Northwestern State grad and Governor Landry has pushed for him to get the job.

Qualifying for the fall elections are underway. All six of Louisiana’s congressional seats are up for election and there’s an open seat on the Public Service Commission. Political analyst Bernie Pinsonat says being a P-S-C member is a coveted political job…

The underage gambling charges against former LSU receiver Kayshon Boutte have been dropped. He was arrested in January. The East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney’s office says Boutte has completed a gambling awareness program and executed a self-ban. Legal Analyst Tim Meche says Boutte’s case will be a lesson learned for LSU and the NCAA, as they need to monitor college athletes when it comes to sports wagering.
