A nine-year-old boy is recovering after he was attacked by an alligator in Lake Pontchartrain. The New Orleans Fire Department says the scary incident happened Sunday while the child was swimming with his family. The boy sustained laceration and puncture wounds. Fire officials credit the child’s father for acting quickly to fend off the six-foot alligator.

The Republican National Convention continues today in Milwaukee. Expect Congressional investigations into the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump to pick up next week. House Speaker Mike Johnson of Benton says Americans deserve answers on how suspected shooter 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks fired an AR-style rifle within 150 yards of Trump.

A status conference hearing scheduled today in suspended LSU running back Trey Holly’s criminal case has been pushed back until September.
