At this moment, it doesn’t look like suspended running back Trey Holly will be a part of the LSU offense. Holly faces a gun charge from a shooting that injured two people in his hometown in Union Parish. Holly’s case was scheduled for a status conference today, but it has been pushed back until September 18th. Holly’s attorney Mike Small says move evidence in the case is expected to be presented and that’s the reason for the delay…

LSU first baseman Jared Jones, who slugged 28 home runs last season for the Tigers, will return for his junior season. Also returning for the Tigers, starting shortstop Michael Braswell. Both players were not taken in the 20-round Major League Baseball Draft.

Former LSU pitcher Paul Skenes started last night’s All-Star game for the National League and threw a scoreless inning with no strikeouts. Former Northwestern State star David Fry had an RBI single as the American League came back to beat the National League five to three.

Grambling State quarterback Myles Crawley has been named the SWAC preseason offensive player of the year. Crawley threw for 23-hundred yards and 16 touchdowns last season. He says the preseason honor will drive him to be better…
