Former LSU Pitcher Paul Skenes has been named as the starter for the National League All-Stars following his 7-inning no-hitter yesterday. Skenes becomes the 5th rookie in MLB history to receive the All-Star nod and his 11 starts this season match the fewest in a career to earn a starting spot. Yesterday’s 11 strikeout performance was his eighth-straight with at least 7 K’s, and his 12.1 strikeouts per nine innings ranks first among all National League players with at least 60 innings pitched. The MLB All-Star game is set for Tuesday July 16.

LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels won Best Men’s Sports College Athlete at the ESPY’s last night for his final season as a Tiger. Daniels threw for over 38-hundred yards and 40 touchdowns with only 4 interceptions last season. He adds to his already extensive list of accolades which includes a Heisman trophy, Walter Camp Award, and SEC Male Athlete of the Year. The second-overall pick is set to report for Commanders training camp July 28.

Saints legend Steve Gleason was honored with the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the ESPY’s for his contributions to improving the lives of those living with ALS. Former teammate Drew Brees presented Gleason with the award and Gleason’s son held it beside him during his acceptance speech.

The Pelicans tip-off NBA Summer league in Las Vegas today against the Timberwolves and 8th-overall pick Rob Dillingham. Summer League rosters will participate in 4 games over the next 8 days with the top 4 teams moving on to the playoffs.
