Two adults and an 8-year-old child were found dead in a home near Albany Monday morning. Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard says 49-year-old Ginny Williamson, 49-year-old Steven Williamson, and the child in their custody died in what appears to be a murder/suicide.

Ard says his office had not received any calls out to this family’ home and never received any reports of domestic violence involving this family.

Beginning next year more Louisianans will be eligible for insurance coverage for bariatric surgery as commercial insurers will be required to cover the weight loss surgery. Medicaid currently covers the surgery and the insurance state workers have also pays for it. The coverage will go into effect for commercial insurers on January 1st.

The EPA gave the Denka plant in Reserve 90 days to reduce emissions that some say are increasing the risk of cancer in St. John the Baptist Parish. But the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality is giving the controversial chemical plant two years to meet the EPA’s new emissions standards.
