The plan will go into effect for the 2025-2026 school year.

The Community Lighthouse Project is set to open more facilities across Louisiana just in time for hurricane season. Representative Troy Carter of New Orleans, who donated almost 4 million dollars to the project last year, says the lighthouses will be a safe space during an emergency.

The pilot proposal calls for 24 lighthouses across the state. 16 of them will be in New Orleans and others in Caddo, Calcasieu, East Baton Rouge, Jefferson, Rapides, St. Bernard, St. John, and Terrebonne Parishes.
