The National Hurricane Center has begun issuing advisories on a newly formed Tropical Depression Nine way out in the Atlantic Ocean. They say the system is located about 1200 miles east of islands in the Caribbean and is moving north-northwest and is expected to turn toward the northwest Thursday night. Forecasters say there is currently no threat to land.

State Police say an attempted hit and run in Iberia Parish has left a Grant Parish woman dead. Master Trooper Brooks David says 35-year-old Angela Brown of Pollock crossed the center line of LA 86 and side swiped another vehicle…:

Brown was pronounced dead at the scene. David says investigators also believe the woman was involved in a hit and run in St. Martin Parish just before the crash which claimed her life. Impairment is believed to be a factor in the crashes.
