LSU second baseman Steven Milam has been invited to the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Training camp. He is one of 56 players that will attempt to make the Collegiate National Team that will go on a summer league tour that includes a series against Chinese Taipei. Milam had a monster freshman season, hit .326, with eight homers, and 40 RBIs.

LSU has several players who just completed their sophomore seasons who are eligible for next month’s Major League Baseball Draft. Griffin Herring, Paxton Kling, Gavin Guidry and Jared Jones. Jones hit 28-home runs during his sophomore campaign and Hunt Palmer with ESPN 104-5 and 104-9 in Baton Rouge says it’s likely Jones has played his final game at LSU…

Palmer says he could see Herring coming back to improve his draft stock as a starting pitcher. Johnson has said he plans to have Herring in the weekend rotation in 2025.

Former Grambling assistant football coach Doug Porter has passed away at the age of 94. He was the oldest living member of the College Football Hall of Fame. Porter was an assistant at Grambling for nine seasons after he played quarterback at Xavier of Louisiana and served in the U-S Army. He was a head coach at Mississippi Valley State and Fort Valley State. At Fort Valley State, Porter was a seven-time Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year.
