That’s Colonel Jerome Butler with the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs. 33 Louisianians died that day. 12 of them are buried in the state, 17 in France, one in England and three were never found.

A bill awaiting the governor’s signature would end the requirement for students to take the ACT if they are seeking a career path diploma. Instead they would take a job skills test or a military readiness test. New Orleans Representative Jason Hughes made the argument the state’s public education rankings have improved because the state requires every high school student to take the ACT…

Supporters of this legislation say Louisiana’s average ACT score has declined in recent years because students are taking the test that have no desire to go to four-year university.
