Louisiana is in for a beautiful weekend. You’ve probably already felt that fall-like air as you walked outside this morning. Jonathan Brazzell with the National Weather Service says today’s afternoon highs will be in the mid 80s and tomorrow we should be seeing those temperatures even lower…:

He says it’ll be a great time to spend some time outdoors because it’s going to feel refreshing compared to what we’ve been seeing the past few months.
Three mosquito pools representing two locations in Ouachita Parish tested positive for West Nile virus. Mosquito Abatement for the region said these samples were collected at the start of September. Two of the pools were collected between West Monroe High School and First Baptist of West Monroe. The third was collected in the River Oaks Subdivision of Monroe. Thea areas were treated by truck Friday and will be again on Monday and Tuesday.

The Louisiana Supreme Court Late Friday issued a stay for New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu. That means he avoids house arrest for now in the firefighter pay dispute. In a last-minute decision, the state’s high court spared Landrieu from having to serve the punishment because of the city’s apparent failure to pay $75 million to firefighters in a decades-old legal dispute.
