The House Governmental Affairs committee has approved legislation that will lead to a constitutional convention. The delegates of the convention will be asked to streamline the constitution and give state lawmakers more budget flexibility when the state is facing a deficit. The Catahoula Parish Sheriff’s Office says a West Monroe man has admitted to the brutal murder of 19-year-old Sheryl Turner of New Iberia. Her dismembered body was found in the Ouachita River in Catahoula Parish in January. Detectives says Anthony Holland killed Turner during a sexual act and then used a large kitchen knife to cut up her body.
