The LSU baseball team began a nine-game homestand last night by blanking Nicholls nine to nothing. Tommy White hit two home runs. Coach Jay Johnson says beating a Nicholls team with 27 wins should help improve their R-P-I as they try to build an NCAA Tournament resume.

Little Rock doubled up ULM four to two, Northwestern routed Grambling 16 to 8. The Demons scored eight runs in the fourth as Balin Valentine drove in five runs. S-L-U thumped Alcorn 15-to-3. McNeese rallied to beat Louisiana Christian six to four. The Cajuns host Houston Christian tonight.

In softball…25th ranked U-L Lafayette defeated sixth-ranked LSU nine to four. The Cajuns scored six times in the first inning. Alexa Langeliers and Brooke Ellestad homered for U-L Lafayette.

Game two of their Western Conference playoff series is tonight as the Pelicans face Oklahoma City down one game to one.

The Saints have the 14th pick in the first round of tomorrow night’s NFL draft. New Orleans has an obvious need at offensive tackle, but they could also use a wide receiver. General manager Mickey Loom says there are a lot of talented offensive players in this draft…
