The LSU Tigers have started SEC play with a 2 and 7 record and currently have a four game losing streak heading into this weeks series against Vanderbilt. LSU Head Coach Jay Johnson says that the Tigers losses are against Omaha contending teams and that there won’t be many breaks in conference play this season.

In baseball news across the state, McNeese had no trouble against Alcorn State last night. Junior Outfielder Conner Westenburg went 4 for 4 for the pokes and drove in four RBI’s as McNeese won 11 to 4.

And ULM defeated Northwestern State yesterday 10 to 6. The Warhawks were able to score all 10 of their runs with two outs in the inning and the game marked ULM’s first win in Natchitoches since 2013.

The New Orleans Pelicans are still winless in the month of April this season as the Magic defeated the Pelicans 117 to 108. The game marks New Orleans’s third straight loss and Pelicans Head Coach Willie Green says that his team can’t focus on the losses with six games left still to play in the season.

The Pelicans are now in sixth place in the Western standings and will host the Spurs tomorrow at 7 pm.

And Governor Jeff Landry wants college boards in Louisiana to implement policies that will put athletic scholarships at risk if student-athletes are not present for the national anthem. Governor Landry says that it’s a matter that deals with respect and unity.
