ULM fell in their season opener to No. 9 Georgia in Athens 51-14. UL-Lafayette lost to Kentucky 40-33. The Wildcats scored a touchdown with less than a minute to go to escape with the 7 point win. Louisiana Tech beat Southern in Ruston, 62-15. Former Tech Coach Sonny Dykes and Cal beat Grambling State 73-14.

The New Orleans Saints have started toying with their roster. Safety Kenny Phillips has been waived along with defensive lineman Ashaad Mabry sources said Sunday. Franklin Parish remains in shock over the death of 16-year-old Tyrell Cameron, who lost his life from an apparent broken neck sustained while playing football on Friday night.
