The Saints’ preseason comes to an end with a 38-10 loss to the Green Bay Packers last night at Lambeau Field. The Black and Gold was unable to hold on to their 10-0 halftime lead. New Orleans went 0-4 in the preseason, the first winless preseason for the team since 1971. The Saints have to cut their roster down to 53-players by 3PM Saturday. New Orleans opens the regular season September 13th at Arizona.

In state high school football action…Warren Easton upended the defending Division I state champ Jesuit 34-21. It was Vermilion Catholic over Catholic of New Iberia 35-12. Jennings edged Kinder 41-40. Central Catholic doubled up St. John 54-27. Huntington squeaked by Mansfield 22-21. Ascension Catholic defeated Point Coupee Catholic 53-25. Ville Platte shut out Mamou 30-0.

Running back Kody Sutton ran for two touchdowns in the second half as Southeastern Louisiana defeated Northwestern State 34-20. Lions quarterback D’Shale Landor rushed for 125 yards and a touchdown. The Demons trailed 13-6 at the half but couldn’t keep up with Southeastern as the Lions tallied 21 second half points. Southeastern Louisiana has now won 11 straight games against in-state conference opponents.

Duke crushed Tulane 37-7. Quarterback Thomas Sirk lit up the Green Wave defense passing for 289 yards and 2 touchdowns. Tulane will travel to face Georgia Tech on September 12th.

Les Miles is hoping his youngest son will one day play for him at LSU. Tigers recruiting coordinator Frank Wilson has offered Ben Miles a scholarship to play at LSU. Miles is a fullback for the Catholic High Bears in Baton Rouge. Coach Miles says the scholarship offer is deserving…
