The first meeting of the task force studying the impact of illegal immigration was held today in Baton Rouge. Eric Gill reports…:

The Baton Rouge Police Department says a pedestrian on the side of I-12 near Jefferson Highway was struck and killed by an 18-wheeler this morning. The identity of the 34-year-old victim is being withheld at this time. Cops urge anyone with information on the incident to contact authorities.

A man and his pregnant girlfriend who are believed to have killed a man who repeatedly assaulted the woman as a young child, have been indicted on second degree murder charges. 21-year-old Jace Crehan and 18-year-old Brittany Monk, both of Walker, allegedly killed 47-year-old Robert Noce of Zachary before shoving his body in a 55 gallon drum. Legal analyst Tim Meche doesn’t think the judge will allow the evidence of the rapes:

He says just because you’ve been assaulted it doesn’t mean you can murder the perpetrator. This morning Monk pleaded not guilty.

The Sulphur Police Department says three people from Texas are booked on charges of human trafficking. Investigators believe the trio was bringing females, including juveniles, from Texas into Southwest Louisiana for the purpose of sex selling. Two 23 year old women from Houston were arrested on a charge of human trafficking and so was a 30-year-old man, the alleged leader, from Fort Bend.
