The state Department of Health and Hospitals has confirmed the prescence of the brain eating amoeba in a water system in Ouachita Parish. They say the Naegleria fowleri amoeba was found in the North Monroe Water System, which serves about 8,400 residents in the town of Sterlington. Officials remind residents that the water is safe to drink, but you should avoid getting water up your nose. A 60-day chlorine burn on the system will be conducted to eliminate the amoeba.

Planned Parenthood’s lawsuit against Governor Bobby Jindal over his decision to cut their Medicaid payments at clinics in Baton Rouge and New Orleans will be heard today by a federal judge. Political analyst Bernie Pinsonat says whether you like federal programs or not, Louisiana is tied to most of them and you don’t have a choice but to comply…

The Department of Justice says they haven’t seen “sufficient reasons” to deny Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast funding.
