The LSU men’s basketball team will look to take down 17th ranked Kentucky tonight. The Tigers are coming off a win against nationally ranked South Carolina. The Wildcats also got a big win on the road on Saturday, beating Auburn.

LSU point guard Jalen Cook is questionable with a leg injury. But guard Trae Hannibal is playing at a high level, coming off a six-point and 12 rebound performance against the Gamecocks. Coach Matt McMahon says Hannibal has been a beast…

Louisiana Tech men’s basketball coach Talvin Hester says starters Sean Newman and Daniel Batcho are still day to day. The Bulldogs begin a three-game road trip at UTEP tomorrow.

The C-F-P has unanimously approved the 5 plus 7 model for the new 12 team college football playoff team that will be in place for the first time ever in the 2024 season. That means the five highest ranked conference champions will get into the tournament and then the next seven highest ranked teams based ont he selection committee’s ranking. The Sugar Bowl will host a quarterfinal game.

Louisiana Christian has named Ben McLaughlin as its new head football coach according to the Town Talk. McLaughlin is the school’s all-time leading passer and has been serving as the offensive coordinator at Alexandria Senior High.

Carencro Football Coach Tony Courville has announced his retirement. He led the Golden Bears to a state championship in 2020. Offensive coordinator Gavin Peters will take over as head coach.

College baseball last night….the Ragin Cajuns routed McNeese 11 to 3, Tulane edged Nicholls three to two, ULM pounded Grambling 13 to 3.
