Authorities say a suspicious package was sent to Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson’s home church in Benton, which is in Bossier Parish. The package contained white powder and it was non-hazardous.

Among the bills to be discussed in the special session on crime are measures to restrict early release, requiring 17-year-olds accused of a felony to be tried as an adult and give police officers more legal immunity.
