McNeese State President Daryl Burckel announces his plans to step down after nearly seven years of service. In a released statement, Burckel says he plans to finish his career where he started in the classroom educating students. He will step down next summer.

LSU Health Shreveport has unveiled its $79 million new state-of-the-art Center for Medical Education. The center brings innovative learning techniques to north Louisiana seen at major universities nationwide.  While the center received more than 26 million dollars from the Louisiana Legislature last year, Dr. David Lewis Dean of the School of Medicine says more than a third of the cost was supported by partnerships and the community.
