Linda Frickey’s family feels justice was served after 18-year-old John Honore was found guilty of second-degree murder by a unanimous jury on Monday. Three other teens charged in the 2022 carjacking death pleaded guilty last week to attempted manslaughter in exchange for 20-year sentences. Frickey’s sister-in-law, Kathy Richard says Honore should serve the maximum possible punishment of life in prison if convicted and she hopes the memory of that horrific day lives with him forever.

Honore could possibly be up for parole in 25 years.

The investigation continues into Saturday’s house fire in Elton that appears to have claimed the life of a 67 year old man and his dog. Cause of the man’s death is pending but authorities have determined the fire began near where the victim was found. No working smoke alarms were found in the home.

There’s growing concern among veterinarians over a mystery respiratory disease among dogs that’s difficult to treat. Brooke Thorington has more.

Grambling is parting ways with Head Coach Hue Jackson after two seasons. Grambling lost to Southern in the Bayou Classic and finished the 2023 season 5-6. During Jackson’s 2 years his record is 8 and 14. Jackson served two years of his 4 year $1.6 Million contract. Grambling will reportedly pay the remaining portion of Jackson’s salary over the current fiscal year.
