The Department of Health and Hospitals confirms the presence of the brain eating amoeba in a water system in Terrebonne Parish. State Health Officer Dr. Jimmy Guidry says the deadly amoeba was found in the Schriever Water System in Montegut. He says officials are taking steps to increase the chlorine level in the system to conduct a chlorine burn…:

An area of low pressure in the Atlantic has formed and organized into Tropical Depression Four according to the National Hurricane Center. They say further strengthening and model tracks into the future are fuzzy at this time and it is too early to know if the system will threaten the US or Gulf of Mexico. The Hurricane Center does expect TD 4 to become Hurricane Danny this weekend but still farm from land.
A 16-year-old Plaqumines High School student was arrested after authorities say he brought a loaded gun to school. Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office Major Ronnie Hebert believes the juvenile suspect brought the weapon to school with the intent of harming another student who was on the football team…:

Alcohol and Tobacco Control Commissioner Troy Hebert says his state issued vehicle was stolen from his Baton Rouge home and the thief attempted to set it on fire. Hebert says when the SUV was located, authorities found that the perpetrator stuck a rag in the gas tank….
