Beginning in January, 70,000 state employees will be eligible for paid parental leave. Classified Civil Service employees were granted the paid leave by a civil service rule approved in September and approved by the governor Monday. Thursday’s executive order takes effect in January and covers the eligible unclassified state employees

Cut 9 (06)  “…one year.”The state Board of Ethics has charged Mayor LaToya Cantrell with violating state ethics law by improperly taking 15 first class flights over two years. Cantrell came under fire after The Times-Picayune reported she had spent nearly $29,000 taxpayer dollars on those upgraded flights. The Ethics Board charged Cantrell under a state law that prohibits public officials from receiving anything of value for their official duties
