Former Louisiana House Speaker Taylor Barras of New Iberia will serve as Governor-elect Jeff Landry’s Commissioner of Administration when he takes office in January. The main job of the Commissioner of Administration is coming up with a budget to present to legislators. Barras is promising transparency as the budget goes through the legislative process….

A federal judge has ordered the Department of Corrections to make changes after determining the medical care of inmates at Angola is unconstitutional….

That’s Attorney Samantha Bosalavage with The Promise of Justice Imitative. She says their court filings provide several examples of inmates reporting the need for medical care, but those requests are ignored. The state department of corrections disagrees with the court’s ruling.
