The 5-year-old child who was taken to the hospital this week after being allegedly brutally beaten by his father, has died according to the Baton Rouge Police Department. 36-year-old Varnell Day Jr is now facing a charge of first-degree murder as a result of the suspected abuse. During a doctors examination it was determined that little Jay’Vune Bergin had multiple brain bleeds and bruises all over his body. He passed away just before 10pm last night.

The National Weather Service is keeping their eye on a tropical disturbance forming in the Atlantic. Forecasters give this system a moderate chance of forming into a tropical depression or tropical storm in the next few days.
