The 5-year-old child who was taken to the hospital this week after being allegedly brutally beaten by his father, has died according to the Baton Rouge Police Department. 36-year-old Varnell Day Jr is now facing a charge of first-degree murder as a result of the suspected abuse. During a doctors examination it was determined that little Jay’Vune Bergin had multiple brain bleeds and bruises all over his body. He passed away just before 10pm last night.

The National Weather Service is keeping their eye on a tropical disturbance forming in the Atlantic. Forecasters give this system a moderate chance of forming into a tropical depression or tropical storm in the next few days. Meteorologist Danielle Manning says there’s NO need to panic about this system, just yet…:

According to the Louisiana Lottery, 2 tickets won the $240,000 Easy 5 drawing last night. The prize was hit from tickets sold in Ville Platte and Mandeville. Nobody won the Lotto or Powerball.

LSU Coach Les Miles said once again on his radio show last night that both quarterbacks will play in the season opener against Wisconsin next Saturday. He added that whether it’s Anthony Jennings or Brandon Harris who starts in the game — that doesn’t necessarily mean that QB will be the one who gets more snaps or starts the rest of the season.
