LSU Manship School of Mass Communication Chair, Robert Mann says he will step down at the end of the academic year following Governor-Elect Jeff Landry’s victory.  Mann said he doesn’t want Landry to punish the school he loves because of his presence.

A Rap Song Uploaded to YouTube has a Central Lafourche High School student in trouble. According to the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Facebook page, Sheriff Craig Webre and Lafourche Parish Schools Superintendent Jarod Martin announced student has been charged because the uploaded rap song contained thoughts of threats of violence directed at specific teachers. Webre says there will be increased presence at the Central Lafourche High Tuesday out of an abundance of caution but there is no specific or credible threat to the school

 

A new report ranks Louisiana 48th in the country for the health of its women and children. Pediatrician Dr. Arethusa Kirk with United Health Care says an increase in overdose deaths among adult women helped produce the negative ranking…

Also of concern is Louisiana’s high infant mortality rate.

 

LSU Women’s Basketball is ranked the preseason number 1 team for the first time in program history! The top ranked tigers were nearly a unanimous choice for number 1 in the Preseason AP Poll that came out Tuesday. Many of last year’s championship team are returning this season and the tigers picked up the top 2 players out of the transfer portal and has the nation’s number one ranked recruiting class.  The Tigers will host their first of two exhibition games nest Thursday, October 26th against East Texas Baptist.
