LSU Manship School of Mass Communication Chair, Robert Mann is stepping down at the end of the academic year. In December 2021, Governor Elect Jeff Landry sent an aide to an LSU Faculty Senate meeting to read a letter stating vaccine mandates violated people’s right to religious freedom. In response, Mann tweeted “sending some flunkie to read a letter attacking COVID vaccines.”

Mann has been with LSU for 18 years and has been a vocal critic of state government not spending money to build the school a new campus library.

Georgetown Police Chief, George Hinds has been arrested, accused of accepted cash during a traffic stop.  After receiving a complaint of malfeasance, 51 year old Hinds was booked into the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Jail. Louisiana State Police who are leading an ongoing investigation provided no further details.

 

Three statewide races are also in a runoff, attorney general, secretary of state and state treasurer. The governor’s race has been decided. La Politics Dot Com Publisher, Jeremy Alford says interest will be low for the November 18th general election and he doesn’t see it approaching the 36-percent we had for the primary…

For the first time in program history, LSU Women’s Basketball will enter the season as the nation’s top-ranked team! The Lady Tigers were nearly a unanimous choice in the Preseason AP poll that came out Tuesday. Many players from Last year’s national championship team are returning and they added the top two players out of the transfer portal and have the nation’s No. 1 ranked recruiting class.

The Tigers will host their first of two exhibition games Next Thursday, October 26 against East Texas Baptist. The other exhibition in the PMAC will be on November 1 against Loyola (New Orleans). The Tigers will begin their season on November 6 in Las Vegas against No. 20 Colorado
