A rare annular eclipse is happening today. LSU Assistant Professor of Physics and Astronomy Natalie Hinkel says this type of eclipse happens when the moon is further from Earth, and it obscures only part of the sun. She says Louisiana will only have a partial eclipse and won’t get the full effect of the Ring of Fire view. (:18)

Natchitoches Police are still investigating the death of a Northwestern State Football Player. 21 year old Ronald Caldwell from Manor, Texas died early Thursday morning after being shot several times. No one has been charged in his death. But Natchitoches Police have arrested Caldwell’s roommate 27 year old John McIntosh, who’s charged with possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance.
