State Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon says Louisiana’s insurance market is much stronger and more competitive today than it was before Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Eric Gill reports…:

Louisiana native and former Miss USA beauty queen Ali Landry says she is endorsing Republican candidate Scott Angelle for governor. The campaign released video of Landry’s support in which she says Angelle is a dedicated public servant who is committed to finding solutions to complex problems. The 1996 Miss USA who is also known as the “Doritos girl” says she knew Angelle growing up in Breaux Bridge.

The Board of Elementary and Secondary Education approves a plan that will help more low income families receive federal assistance so they can send their young children to daycare. State Superintendent of Education John White says today’s action provides 10 million dollars in subsidies to assist impoverished parents….

He says now the maximum annual subsidy to send a child to daycare will increase from 1700 dollars to four-thousand dollars.

The Louisiana Lottery Corporation announces revenue is up for the 5th consecutive year and they are contributing over $167 million to the State Treasury for 2015. The LA Lottery says it ended its fiscal year with $453.8 million in revenue, up about $3.3 million from the previous year.
