The Secretary of State’s Office reports an eight-percent drop in early voting turnout. Early voting for the October 14th gubernatorial primary ended Saturday night. Historically in Louisiana Democrats tend to take advantage of early voting compared to Republicans, but notably for this primary it was GOP voter turnout for early voting that exceeded registered Democrats. Absentee voting is also on the rise, and the deadline to apply for an absentee ballot is Tuesday at 4:30 PM.
