Republicans Louisiana Congressman Steve Scalise and Ohio’s Jim Jordan have announced their campaigns for Speaker of the House after Kevin McCarthy was ousted on Tuesday. Scalise’s personal health, as he undergoes treatment for Multiple Myeloma, is a concern. The Advocate’s Mark Ballard, who’s in DC, believes Scalise’s health is not an issue.

House members have been sent home until Tuesday night when they are set to hear from Scalise and Jordan and their bid for Speaker and vote the following day.

With election day eight days away, Attorney General Jeff Landry has $4.5 million in cash on hand and none of his opponents have a million dollars. Political Analyst Bernie Pinsonat says every poll has shown Landry with a big lead, which is making it hard for his competitors to raise money…

WWL-TV in New Orleans is reporting a state grand jury voted against indicting anyone on criminal charges in the collapse of the Hard Rock Hotel in 2019. Three workers were killed. An OSHA investigation found willful and serious safety violations committed by Heaslip Engineering in Metairie. But the firm is contesting those findings.
