The U-S House needs a new Speaker after Kevin McCarthy was ousted in a historic vote by House members. Louisiana’s Republican House members voted to keep McCarthy as Speaker, but New Orleans Democrat Troy Carter joined right-flank Republicans in voting to remove him. Jefferson Parish Congressman Steve Scalise is a candidate for the speaker’s post.
