Greg Lawson of Ringgold, now 63, has been captured in Mexico after being on the run for nearly three decades -after being convicted of attempted murder in 1991. Bienville Sheriff John Ballance says authorities received information on Lawson’s whereabouts which led to his capture.

For the third year in a row, UL Lafayette has seen an increase in the number of first-time freshmen. A total of 3,066 first-time freshman students enrolled for the fall semester. Vice President of Enrollment DeWayne Bowie says the university’s retention rate is nearly 80 percent for students.

Rapides Parish Sheriff’s has arrested a substitute teacher for committing sexual crimes against juvenile students. 24-year-old Blaze Clark has been charged with three counts of molestation of a juvenile, two counts of third-degree rape, and other offenses. The incidents occurred off campus.
